    ISRC Checker

Paste an ISRC to verify the format is correct and check what track and artist metadata is attached to it. ISRCs are the identifiers royalty systems use to match plays to your registrations — a mismatch means uncollected royalties.

ISRCs can be found in your DistroKid, TuneCore, or CD Baby account under each release.

    What is an ISRC?

An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a 12-character identifier assigned to a specific sound recording. It looks like: US-S1Z-99-00001. Every commercially released recording should have one.

Streaming platforms report plays to royalty organizations (ASCAP, BMI, The MLC, SoundExchange) using ISRCs. When the ISRC in a royalty report doesn't match the ISRC in your registration, the royalty goes unmatched — into the black box pool. According to The MLC's public disclosures, ISRC mismatches are among the leading causes of the $400M+ in unmatched US mechanical royalties.

ISRCs are assigned by your distributor (DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby) at upload. You need to use the distributor-assigned ISRC — not a self-generated one — when registering with your PRO, The MLC, and SoundExchange.
